Integrated innovation: the Aerokit system
The down tube, which has always been one of the most complex areas from a design perspective, was developed
with a precise goal: to have the minimum aerodynamic drag and to reduce the exposure of the water bottles to
the air as much as possible.
The Aerokit system was specifically designed with this intention by our Innovation Lab together with Elite
Cycling, a global leader in the design and production of hydration systems for cycling. This partnership has
resulted in a kit that combines functionality and performance: 1100 ml of total capacity, optimally
distributed and with a minimal aerodynamic impact.
From a technical perspective, the Aerokit functions as a veritable spoiler, capable of keeping the air more
stable and less turbulent around the frame. Compared to traditional systems, aerodynamic drag is reduced by
over two-thirds.
The Aerokit is also compatible with traditional round water bottles: 550ml on the down tube and up to 750ml
on the seat tube.
The Filante SLR ID2 frame is designed to meet the different needs of cyclists by allowing for the
installation of traditional bottle cages

A new aero benchmark on the market
Rigorous testing in the Silverstone wind tunnel pushed an ambitious project beyond all expectations.
The verdict was extraordinary: A 13.6% reduction in drag, exceeding the 12% estimated by CFD simulations. In
the complete bike-rider system - always central to Wilier - we recorded a 4.5% improvement in aerodynamic
resistance.
The comparison with the Filante SLR ID1 highlights tangible and significant advantages: maintaining the same
speed of 40 km/h, a substantial 14.15 Watts of power is saved. Even more impressive are the data over
distance: by applying the same power of 290 W over a 70 km route, a gain of 1 minute and 45 seconds is
achieved, a margin that truly makes a difference in a competitive environment.
The decisive test came in direct comparison with the five competitor top-of-the-range World Tour bikes: an
average aerodynamic resistance coefficient 2.42% better.
At the speeds of modern cycling, this difference means seconds gained and concrete competitive advantages in
the race.
F-Bar ID2: aerodynamic cockpit for superior control and comfort
The new F-Bar ID2 is an aerodynamic cockpit developed around the needs of the modern cyclist, thanks to the
joint efforts of engineers and the athletes of the Groupama – FDJ Cycling Team.
Every detail is designed to offer you maximum efficiency and control in all riding conditions. The O.E.F.
(Optimized Ergonomic Flare) design introduces an orthogonal flare of 3 cm between the high and low grip
(available in 35/38 cm, 37/40 cm, and 39/42 cm), which, unlike other handlebars with differentiated widths,
keeps the ergonomics of the controls unchanged, guaranteeing you a natural, comfortable, and tucked position
to improve aerodynamic performance further.
For the first time on a Wilier product, the handlebar clamping hardware is completely hidden, benefiting
aesthetics, protection from dirt and sweat, and aerodynamic performance - all while fully complying with the
latest UCI regulations.
Fork: true aerodynamic efficiency is in the details
For the design of the fork, we analysed numerous NACA airfoils - aerodynamic shapes derived from
aeronautics
and mathematically defined to ensure maximum efficiency in the airflow. Every airfoil was tested in
combination with the wheel and tyre through CFD simulations, considering different wind incidence angles
to
reproduce real-world usage conditions.
The result is a fork whose legs combine an external NACA airfoil with a flat inner profile.
The fork crown cone is even more pronounced than on the Filante SLR, guaranteeing greater torsional
stiffness combined with superior stress resistance.
The left fork leg integrates a thin aerodynamic fin that skims the disc and envelops the brake caliper: a
partial fairing already successfully experimented with on the Supersonica SLR, now further refined.
Finally, the thru axle clamping bushing has been completely encased into the right fork leg: a first for
Wilier products, which combines aesthetic elegance, clean-cut silhouettes, and a tangible benefit in terms
of aerodynamics.
The seatpost that combines efficiency and light weight
With the experience gained in the development of the Supersonica SLR, we already had the right formula in
our labs: a balance between aesthetics, light weight, and comfort.
The new seatpost for the Filante SLR ID2 originates from this recipe, featuring a slender and sharp profile
that optimises aerodynamic penetration without compromising stiffness and while guaranteeing good vertical
vibration absorption.
It is available as standard with 0 offset or – upon request – with 15 mm setback.
Enhanced integration of the Shimano Di2 battery
With such a sleek design for the seatpost, the Shimano Di2 battery needed to be repositioned. Moving the
battery to the bottom bracket box area gave us multiple, immediate, and tangible advantages:
Accessibility: the battery, enclosed in a resin casing and secured with two screws, can be checked or
replaced in a matter of moments, without removing the seatpost or changing the saddle height.
Lower centre of gravity: the new position contributes to lowering the bike's centre of mass, in synergy with
the lowered Aerokit. The result is a more stable, precise, and manageable bike when riding at high speeds.
Rear triangle: aesthetic continuity, technical evolution
We chose to preserve the family feel of the previous Filante, maintaining wide rear stays that join the seat
tube with a broken line, which gives the frame a determined character when viewed from behind.
To a superficial eye, they might look similar to the ID1 version, but in actual fact, they have been
redesigned in every detail. Analyses of the dynamic interactions between the stays and leg movement during
pedalling guided us towards a counter-intuitive solution: inclining the stays inward by 2.5°.
The rear triangle has been slightly lengthened: a choice that allows for better integration of the new
transmission groupsets with the UDH dropout, increases tyre clearance (up to 34 mm), and improves the
overall stability of the bicycle.
Tyre clearance and front chainring
The Filante SLR ID2 has been designed to offer you the perfect balance between aerodynamics and versatility.
A tyre clearance of up to 34 mm allows you to choose the perfect tyre to tackle a wide variety of surfaces
with confidence, while simultaneously guaranteeing maximum aerodynamic efficiency.
Thanks to the removable derailleur support, the drivetrain can also be configured as a 1x setup,
accommodating chainrings with up to 55 teeth. This solution enhances the clean-cut aesthetics, reduces
weight, and boosts performance in the most ‘racing’ configurations.
Weight and materials: the essence of speed is in balance
For an aero frame, the starting point is always the pursuit of balance between aerodynamics, stiffness,
and responsiveness. It is not about chasing extreme light weight, but about achieving maximum efficiency
at high speeds, guaranteeing a precise and stable response in every riding condition, while still allowing
for builds slightly above the UCI limits.
To achieve this goal, the choice of materials is crucial. For the Filante SLR ID2, we have also adopted
the highest quality composites, the result of a collaboration with Toray, a world leader in carbon fibre
production.
For the lamination of the monocoque, three types of fibres are used – T800, T1100, and M46JB – selected
and mixed better to combine responsiveness, stiffness, and light weight, resulting in an overall weight,
in the Dura-Ace Di2 specification, of 7.1 kg.
The Colour of Speed
Once again, at Wilier Triestina, colour is not just about looks: it is identity and emotion. Each shade
stems from research capable of transforming light into matter and matter into sensation. The surfaces
narrate movement and reflect the passion that animates every one of our bicycles: colour becomes the
language of speed.
We have chosen colours capable of enhancing the silhouettes of the Filante SLR ID2. In the sunlight, every
shade reveals its strength, expressing the essence of speed: an energy that flows over the shapes and
transforms performance into emotion.
On the upper part of the frame, the colour makes way for exposed carbon, allowing the heart of the frame to
emerge in its essence, amplifying the perception of dynamism and tracing a visual dialogue between the
seatpost and handlebar: a gesture of absolute formal coherence.
The Filante SLR ID2 will be available at launch in the following 5 colours.
Firelight Red
Firelight Red is born where air ignites: hot, vibrant, like the instant oxygen meets heat and light
explodes.
It all starts with white - pure oxygen, the primal purity, the point where the reaction begins. Silver
details enrich the livery: the spark before combustion. Then red blazes forth, incandescent and bold - a
luminous signature racing through space and time.
In this chromatic reaction Admiral Blue emerges: a blue that doesn't cool but guides the flame, directing
it toward its purest essence. It symbolises the bond with Groupama-FDJ Cycling Team, a visual identity
uniting bike and rider in one seamless language.
Firelight Red is the official livery of Groupama-FDJ Cycling Team for the 2026 season.
Pure White
An absolute white, pure and brilliant like snow in the sun. This colour reflects every ray of light,
transforming the surface into a living mirror that appears to move with you.
Bright, clean, dazzling: it is the sensation of riding inside the light itself, with a purity that knows
no shadows.
Solar Bronze
Warm and enveloping, like golden sand shimmering at sunset. Solar Bronze captures the light and returns it
in metallic reflections that change with every glance.
It is the colour of solar energy transformed into movement, a balance between ancient elegance and modern
vitality.
Aurora Blue
A regal blue that embraces red and gold in a single surface that captures the light of dawn. It is a
colour that lives and breathes with the light: now it shows the majesty of midnight blue, now the ardour
of morning red, now the golden splendour of the rising sun.
Every reflection changes like dawn streaking across the sky, powerful and harmonious. Aurora Blue is part
of the Wilier Premium Paint programme.
Lunar Grey
A deep grey, inspired by the moon’s reflections on the water.
Like the tides that follow its call, this colour plays with light in a subtle but continuous way, shifting
from the soft tones of purple to elegant silvery glints.
Striking the perfect balance between sobriety and movement.
Eclipse black
Deep and glossy, like polished obsidian.
Eclipse Black holds onto the light and releases it in subtle reflections, much like an eclipse that both
shows and conceals at the same time.
It is a colour that transmits absolute elegance, silent power, and a touch of mystery, amplifying
everything around it.
Geometries and fitting
Direct collaboration with the Groupama - FDJ Cycling Team led us to refine every minute detail in terms of
frame geometries. The goal: to have a virtually bespoke fitting system.
Thanks to the AccuFit system, every size maintains the same geometric consistency and fitting precision,
delivering a balanced, natural, and high-performance riding experience, whatever your height or pedalling
style.
The Filante SLR ID2 is conceived like a tailored suit for you: with 6 frame sizes, 7 handlebar spacer
combinations, 5 stem sizes, and 2 seatpost versions, 420 fitting configurations are possible, each differing
from the next by a mere 2 millimetres. This precision allows for a customised saddle position, like a
high-end tailoring garment.
